A beautiful silver light descends, and from it, the ghosts of the children's parents arrive to take them into the afterlife. Past and present intersect as she and her ghostly friend discover the fate of the family who lived in the house all those many years ago. This story is set in Maryland, so you feel the very cool temperatures, the dampness after a rain; the aromas of decaying leaves under your feet. It isn't really mentioned what it was like when they died, bu I can only imagine how horrible a long, slow death must be. But then a new caretaker arrives along with his daughter Lissa.
When she sees a pale face in an upstairs window, she can't stop wondering about the eerie presence on the top floor - in a room with a locked door. The descriptions of the woods in October and November are excellent. The more diana learns the more she wants to be Lissa's friend rules or no rules. Scooping up my cat, Nero, I plunged into the tangle of vines and weeds lining the drive. The caretakers that come, Lissa and her father, become Diana's friends even though it's against the rules to have friends. Just moved to the Willis place.
But when a new caretaker comes to live there with his young daughter, Lissa, Diana is tempted to break the mysterious rules they live by and reveal herself so she can finally have a friend. I also liked that in some part it kept you haging. Which is an easy rule to follow until Lissa moves in with her dad and her loyal dog MacDuff move in as the new caretakers of the grounds. He was nothing but a sour countenance at Diana's efforts to befriend a caretaker and his daughter, Lissa; a redundant exhortation of rules. What i think or this book is when i read i can picture all the moment in my head which makes me want to read it over and over. Diana want to be friends with her and she did and then big problems happen after that.
Then daina want a friend ,so she made friends with this girl name lisa who dad is the caretake of the I chose this book, beause i like books that are scarey. How could a ghost actually hurt you? I agree; it is a great read. Recommended, especially for Halloween time! Rose and Rain are practically inseparable. When a young woman and her father move to a trailer near the property, rules are broken with dramatic consequences. Before long, their supernatural pranks have tourists flocking to the inn, and business booms. The forest and an old, broken down, haunted house are geographic locations.
Georgie was right behind me. Her brother, Georgie, thinks this is a bad idea. Diana reveals that she and Georgie are ghosts because Miss Lilian locked them in cellar and they died when Miss Lilian went to the hospital to recover from a stroke. The children's forgiveness allows Miss Lilian to join them there. They are soon found by Miss Lilian, who wants to punish them for revealing her terrible secret.
The police say the bike was probably stolen by some teenagers. Amy Anne decides to fight back by starting a secret banned books library out of her locker. I did think that the ending of the story wrapped up a bit too fast for me but for the target audience, they will love it. Somehow, Diana must get Lissa's help if she and Georgie ever hope to release themselves from the secret that has bound them to the old Willis place for so long. That's how long it took me to get serious about writing.
I may be biased because I freaking live for well written ghost stories. When I started this book, I thought the children were ghosts. It also looked good when I saw the picture on the front and the writting on the back. The characters are fucking everything. But one day Lissa wanted to see what was really in the old Willis place but her dad and everyone to stay away from ther. In high school, I kept a diary. Anyway love this book looking forward to finding more books like this and hope you feel the same way i felt when i read this book.
